The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge he sealed his fate
[ Ryoji's room feels pretty personalized-- there's a large duct-taped moon on the wall and a whole lot going on with his desk. Namely, there's several things carved into it: an origami crane, a unicorn, and a heart with two initials "R & R". On top of the desk sits the very first origami crane he made here, stained red from smashed raspberries. A notebook has been left open to the inside cover, a date circled 7/30, with the words "This Sunday? Need to finish it!". The rest of the notebook is filled with verses of half-finished haikus, themed around the seasons and love.
In the first drawer you will find an absolutely insane amount of origami cranes in all colors, is there a thousand here? Do you want to count to find out? One of them is different however, the cranes are yellow and teal respectively. In the second drawer you'll find three pieces of paper: one of them is a finished haiku that quite obviously wasn't intended for you!!!
Letter ????
Renee!
This is my trump card, and I'm saving it for an emergency in case I need to remind you not to give up hope. It feels silly writing this like an actual letter when I'll be the one reading it to you, but maybe this will help me write a better one if it has proper form. Or who knows, maybe I'll get to hand it to you after, in which case I should just get started, right?
I love you. It still makes me really happy to say that, and even happier to hear you say it back. I know I've said this to you before, but you're the reason I can fight my fate in the first place. It's not going to be easy, and it may be almost impossible, but we can fight our Fortune together. No matter what's happened in our past, we can have a new beginning, we both deserve it. We can live a normal life— well somewhat normal, I don't think sneaking up to the roof of the Taj Mahal is a typical couple thing, but we're special ♥.
You know, you've told me that your indecisive but I've never once thought that you were. From the first time I asked you out, to our 10th date we'll have on your birthday, to when I asked you if I could stay with you forever, your resolve has always been clear to me. But if you ever begin to doubt or feel hopeless that's OK, that's what me and this letter are for (and the other 999,999,999 I need to write)! I believe in you, I believe that you can break this cycle and reverse your fortune for good. If you can convince Death himself that he should live, you can do anything, Renee.
You told me it would take an amazing person to have The Fool as their arcana, but I don't think you realize how strong you are on your own. A weaker person would have let their will disappear after all that time alone, but you remained yourself through it all. And even more important than that, you've decided that you can do better, and you can, you deserve it. I'm a little biased because I'm your boyfriend, but I believe in you, even if you can't, and I always will.
I hated fate before I met you, but I'm positive of it now— we were destined to meet and fall in love. I can't wait to go on our endless date, get lost in the middle of nowhere together, fall asleep on you during Inception, be ridiculously affectionate in public, hide origami cranes for you all over the universe, and so much more. I'll save some of our other ideas for your next letter, this one got pretty long!
I love you!!!
Your lover boy,
Ryoji
P.S.- I was going to write a cheer except that's hard to do on paper...
G-O
F-I-G-H-T
W-I-N
R-E-N-E-E!!!
P.P.S Well maybe less fighting, but you can do it!!! ♥
